Last night, Curve theatre in Leicester played host to the annual 'Leicester's Best Dance Crew' competition. The show was sold out and was one of the hottest tickets in town last night! The winners of this years show, are one of Studio 79's resident crews, TXS! the boys bought home the Leicester's Best Dance Crew 2013 crown to the studio, making studio 79 home to the winning crews for the second year running!
Last year, 'BASE' won the title of Leicester's Best Dance Crew 2012, and have since made a name for themselves doing various shows and performances around the country and even getting a selected space on SKY1's 'Got To Dance' show.
TXS, made up of 4 teenagers from the Leicester area who train at the studio at the street dance classes on a weekly basis conquered the competition last night after coming 2nd in the competition last year. They have been working really hard in their rehearsals all week, trying to get their performance ready for the show. It was a well deserved win, getting a standing ovation from the audience after each performance on stage.
Rubydolls, the studio's other resident group made their debut in the competition, opening the show to rave reviews.The show was created with 2 Funky Arts, who recorded the event, so hopefully we will be able to post some footage of our dancers in the near future. 2 Funky Arts are also working with the studio to host the first 'Leicester's Best Dance Workshops' event 2013 on Sunday 3rd March.
We are so proud of all the Studio 79 dancers involved in the show, and cannot wait for next years show, which will see the TXS boys returning to hand down their crown to Leicester's Best Dance crew 2014!
